Weight loss is probably one of the most controversial topics and will always be. And whilst the market is over saturated with tips, do’s and don’ts, when and what to eat, etc. I’ve decided to write my own tips (I know how original!) but focusing on the things that I personally find very important and are most often overlooked. I would like to think of them as being common sense tips that can be applied to anything we do in life really. This will be followed by a more in-depth post with some of the science behind and few tips in terms of food and exercising but till then here it goes:
STOP THINKING AND JUST DO IT! There won’t be a magic pill out there that will miraculously help you get into the best shape of your life. The only sustainable way to achieve the body and health you want is through a natural diet. It’s that simple: change your habits, write down your goals, visualise them and then smash them! You need to work hard, prep your food, stay focused and keep going. It requires a lot of determination and most often it’s more efficient if you either find a like-minded community or friends that can keep you accountable. Also don’t be too shocked when people around you won’t support you 100%, they will come around eventually & bluntly put you don’t need negative vibes. Have your “WHY” in mind which will help in times when you feel demotivated.
BE CONSISTENT AND DISCIPLINED. I cannot stress enough the importance of these two words but consistency and discipline are indeed the key to anything you do in life. I know this will sound quite dramatic but imagine your dream job or the times you had to work very hard to get to a certain point in your life/business. The end result came with hard work, dedication, consistency and discipline. You will need to be consistent in anything you do in order to reach your goal and that includes your weight loss journey too.
POSITIVITY ALL THE WAY. This might sound quite silly but a positive attitude might help shed those unwanted pounds quicker. Why? Always remember there is an interdependent relationship between your mind & body. Ever heard of Your body achieves what your mind believes? If you don’t believe you can achieve it, then you’re probably right and like with anything else in life, your mind needs to believe it can be achieved. It’s important that you focus on the activity of being consistent and sticking to your healthy sustainable diet and exercise for the results to come.
FORGET ABOUT THE UNHEALTHY ROLE MODELS OUT THERE! let me say that again…Forget about the unhealthy role models out there! Perhaps one of the main factors that stop our progression is this: we tend to compare ourselves to other people. And most times is photoshopped magazine covers! STOP! This reminds me of a famous quote by Theodore Roosevelt “Comparison is the thief of joy”. With this in mind…set new habits and get going…we all have different journeys and every small step towards the right direction is always better than no step at all. Focus on being the best version of yourself.
THINK OUTSIDE THE (PERFECTION) BOX. Let me tell you what I mean. We always want perfection which is a dangerous unachievable metric to go by. Trust me, I now ALL about that! I think we need to redefine this and just strive for progression. Any step towards your goal is better than waiting for the perfect moment. Go by how you look and feel and not by the numbers on scale, who cares about that?! Your ultimate goal should be to burn fat and get lean..don’t forget muscle will always weigh more than fat.
HAVE FUN! Yes, you’ve heard that right, enjoy & have fun, you’re working on a better you, no reason to get stressed. I know you will reach a point when all this will make you feel like you’re missing out but that feeling when you feel so full of life and energy and everyone will compliment you and notice these changes is unbeatable!
So what are you waiting for, get started NOW…. the new YOU awaits!
Don’t forget Progression NOT Perfection!
Till next time..focus on the good,
