Hey there beautiful soul! Have you ever stopped to think how do you want to feel? When setting your health goals or life goals in general?
Recently I came across Danielle LaPorte and among the cool stuff available online is this book that is actually starting to become one of my favourites: The Desire Map-Creating goals with soul. The more I read it, the more I felt like hell yeah, this makes so much sense. How come I’ve never looked at it this way before?
The main idea throughout the book is that it is really important to note how do you want to feel. Forget about goals for a moment. How do you want to feel?
It made me think that all of the sudden it all makes sense and I’ve had several “Aha’s” whilst reading it. One of them was that this is something that can be applied when setting health and wellbeing goals too. Way too many times eating healthy and exercising begins feeling like a chore and we start focusing on the wrong thing. I.e. I want to lose belly fat and be toned! Ladies, sound familiar? Don’t take it in the wrong way, that too is an important aspect but it begs the question, again..How do you want to feel? Once you achieve that, how will you feel?
Setting health goals
I feel like there’s too many so called experts out there telling you what, when and how to eat and what you should and shouldn’t feel. I always say you alone should be the judge of that and should get to know your body & mind to understand what really works for you and what doesn’t. I really believe that if we asked these questions in all aspects of life, there will occur massive shifts that will bring us far more joy that setting an emotionless goal. God forbid we don’t reach that goal…then our world starts crumbling down and we feel like we’ve failed straight away.
Take two minutes now and write it down.. Are you ready? How do you want to feel?
Here’s my answer. I want to feel empowered, happy, sexy and feminine but strong at the same time. I want to feel radiant, vibrant, oozing energy but have a sense of calm, be patient and collected like a zen master. I want to feel abundant and like no matter what curve ball life throws at me, I am ready to face it. And I want to feel this way in every aspect of life.
Is it really necessary to dig so deep when setting these goals?
If you asked me it’s pretty damn important. If you think about it, the most important, nourishing ‘foods’ that really feed our health and wealth are our relationships with ourselves first and foremost, partners, family, friends, work colleagues etc, how fulfilled we are spiritually, emotionally, in our carrer/business and how healthy & happy we are mentally and in general. These are also known as primary foods.
Therefore, a balanced lifestyle is not only about eating a certain way but first and foremost about making sure you cherish those primary foods.
Start using this as a practice every day or every week if every day feels a little too much at this stage. Don’t worry if your answers change or quite the opposite they stay the same. Ask yourself how do you want to feel and start really paying attention…start noticing these things so you can feel and manifest them. Remind yourself: you attract what you are & your thoughts create your reality!
So…how do you want to feel this week?
Pop your answers in the comments below, really can’t wait to hear them! 😀
Till next time, focus on the good.
